Citizens in Support of the Sea Services
The Navy League of the United States is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating our citizens about the importance of sea power to U. S.
national security and supporting the men and women of the sea services and their families.
The Chicago Council holds periodic meetings with
qualified speakers on naval topics. We support
four Sea Cadet Units in the Chicagoland area. We
proudly support our training vessel MANATRA
(YP-671) which is moored at the pier in DuSable
Harbor. We present the Navy League Theodore
Roosevelt Awards to outstanding cadets in the
Naval Junior ROTC programs in ten high schools in
the Chicagoland area.
The Chicago Council presents ceremonial swords annually to
an outstanding cadet at four university ROTC Programs in our
area, Northwestern University, Illinois Institute of Technology,
Purdue University and Notre Dame University. Awards Page
The Chicago Christmas Tree Ship is a program of the Chicago
Council.

The Midway Memorial in Concourse A of Midway Airport is a
project of the Chicago Council.

Special Announcement - Chicago Council has received six prints of the painting "Annapolis Memories" by Dr. John W. Price. Click Here to see a picture of the print and to learn of additional details. The prints have been autographed by the painter and Captain James A. Lovell of Apollo 8 and 13 fame. Captain Lovell is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis. The prints will be given to donors with the proceeds going to support the Chicago Navy League youth programs.
